People make mistakes regularly with different scales and mindsets. The mistake can be classified as intentional or subconscious. The consequences of it could vary from trivial to critical depending on the impact.

One wishes to avoid a mistake. For some, it can be committed as it is believed as reasonable. It is due to a different standpoint of view, the difference in personality, miscommunication, etc.

In general, a mistake could trigger unpleasant emotions. It reflects a sign of weakness that shows incompetency. It is not surprising that people will try to hide their mistakes. It is not only physical consequences but also mental disruption.

However, a mistake is not something that one should despise. Some mistakes are necessary to let oneself improve. The willingness to take risks, the unintentional action, and a wrong decision made due to lack of information should not be disdained.

Of course, one should pay attention to the type of mistake. Else, it may lead to a detrimental outcome. One should take action against ignorance, laziness, and intentional misconduct to prevent it happens again. As the mistake attributed to the behaviour, it is something one could control.

Mistakes are unavoidable in our lives. However, one should not be afraid of making mistakes. Instead, one should know the nature of the fault before committing it. When one has the chance to become the assessor, try to find the root cause before deciding on the call for the consequences.

What is the benefit of reviewing your impression of a thing?

One tends to form an opinion and impression towards something novel. Whether it’s an action by people, environment, or incident, the emotion triggered has crystallized in our minds based on experience.

These experiences can be applied when one has encountered a similar situation. The experience can be used as a direction to “simplify” the problem, which one can classify into knowledge and impression aspects. The sub-part of the memory is interlinked that affects our decision-making.

Where the problem with heavily relying on knowledge will tend to be more straightforward, it doesn’t come in the same way with impression. The impression that one has towards something is related to how one feels. Instantly, it deals with the emotion and value that can be ambivalent and subjective.

Due to the ambivalent and subjective nature, the decision made by pure impression is relatively biased. The prejudice does not necessarily always lead to a negative outcome. It provides a shortcut to prevent a problem.

Therefore, one should not ignore the impression and gut feeling yet need to reconsider the decision and the consequences of the action. The reconsideration of our decision is not only focused on the problem related to one’s impression. When one questions knowledge, one may find a possible innovation and improvement.

Through the reimpression, one could reshape the prejudice and have a more reasonable decision. While most of the problems in real life are open-ended questions, requestioning the statement will lead us to get more ideas about how to perceive things differently.

How could the lie of omission affect our decision making?

Lie, a distortion of truth, can be spoken of with different motives. Low self-esteem, a need for validation, protection of information, and many unknown reasons. The lie committed can affect judgement regardless the lie is exposed or not.

A lie is in many forms, and people tend to justify it for various reasons. The lie can be grouped into two based on the intention: commission and omission. Generally, the lie of commission is what one has known as the intentional lie. A lie of commission can be detected by incoherency between the fact and the statement.

The lie of omission is delivered by omitting the fact that would let the others think differently. An example of a lie of omission is intentionally neglecting the communication of bad news ,where the information may lead to even worse consequences.

In this case, the lie of omission is less noticed as it is not involved directly lying. Yet, the omission of fact itself will bring up consequences that are as serious as a lie of commission. It could affect the relationship with other people.

Imagine when an employee is hiding some bad news from the supervisor that will affect a business operation. It can be alleviated by telling the truth and a lot of mishaps. An omission of facts during a statement/speech will make the receiver have a wrong mindset and commit a large-scale mistake.

Sadly, a number of people do not find the importance of the lie of omission. To prevent it, improving the clarity and telling the truth, even if it is a bad news, is a potion to make one free from worries about by the omission of fact. To speak up clearly could make the communication more meaningful and beautiful.

New Order and Existing System

What is the characteristic of the new order and existing system? Is it able to coexist?

A new order, where the obsolete system has just been replaced or overthrown, is the point when a system is not stable. In this order, the framework is vulnerable to change. The people are either attempting to adapt to the changes or have a sense of freedom from the order.

On the other hand, an existing system formed after an extensive period. Apart from the new order, The well-established system can’t be overthrown easily due to a robust framework. The rules have been implemented directly or indirectly by the member. One may feel comfortable refusing the change or getting sick of it and hoping for change.

Each new order and the existing system has its strengths and weaknesses. There is always a supporter of the new order and the prevailing system. The new order can be in various forms, such as a new leader, government, political system, or even the establishment of a new company, etc.

The establishment of new order begins with dissatisfaction with the old order where the old order corroded. If the existing system is robust, the new order can be inhibited through the established framework, given that there is a proper power transition.

The new order is not necessarily beneficial or detrimental. The new order will prevail if the majority benefits through the establishment. This order is usually led by visionary figures equipped with outstanding rhetorical ability. In this stage, the system is not stable and vulnerable.

In comparison, the existing system offers stability to the member. It could bring a stable rate of development with the proper framework, when is the moment where greater prosperity is achieved. However, the stagnation could lead to regression due to complacency and lack of innovation.

The existing system is necessary to ensure the system is functioning well. However, it should also embrace input and accept the new idea to bring progress to the system. If not, a new order is necessary to challenge the existing system to keep the whole system performing productively.

Why do people feel offended by the action from people with different cultures?

Every society is ruled by its people with the support of its laws and norms. The laws directly control the people to ensure the people are under control. Other than the explicit rules that would bring direct consequences, there is an implicit rule called norm,

Norm is the implicit rules that control the way people behave in society. To be accepted by society, a person should conform to the norms. Although it is not explicitly complying, the disregard could result in unacceptance from the surrounding.

Society has developed distinct norms and laws due to its history, culture, and necessary development. Among these three, culture has the most significant impact. It does not mean the law imposed has less impact.

When one is raised in a homogeneous society, one should fully apprehend the underlying rules. However, it could be hard for a person who has a very different culture adapting the custom. The unintentional action may become misconduct due to the misunderstanding.

The unintentional action done may seem offensive. However, it is due to the different ways of upbringing that resulted in differences. Some societies with higher tolerance would welcome new ideas and tend to be progressive. On the other hand, some conservative groups may exclude outsiders preserving the local culture.

For oneself, one should be aware of the local custom when travelling or staying in another place. On the other hand, there is an occasion when one may encounter a foreigner with different habits. It is important to communicate if the action is offensive. Being aware of the aberration, one could defuse a potential conflict from the misunderstanding.

How does one behave during the emotional hijacking?

The emotional dynamic of humans is shaped through life events, the environment, and the value system of the surroundings. Some people can take negative emotions better than others and perform well under stress.

The negative emotions that one possesses can be a double-edged sword depending on the situation. Negative emotion can be triggered when the trigger could harm the person’s survival or self-interest. Negative emotion functioned as an alarm system in the human body.

When the alarm has been activated frequently, the body will start to normalize the alarm system. It could be the default mode of one’s emotion. If one has been pressured chronically, one could be anxious easily. If one has been severely taken advantage of, one may become depressed.

Negative emotions sometimes can help one to become more productive. The anxiety can make one more careful and hardworking. Fear can let one follow the rule. The proper display of anger would make one respect the other.

The main issue is when one is doing something irrational and unreasonable when the emotion is out of control. When one self sabotages oneself, it will be harmful to the surrounding.

Negative emotion is not necessarily a bad thing. One way is to improve self-awareness through active listening to other people. Moreover, understanding the trigger would eventually help one possess negative emotions. With the control, it would gradually transform one to become a better person.

When a person criticizes the other, is it constructive? If not, why do people keep doing it?

One may encounter actions that do not fit the personal value in daily life. A person with high cleanliness standards may find a person not as clean as him as dirty. The difference may lead to the inner critic that may convey to other people.

When the difference leads to an unpleasant feeling, one may start to complain or criticize to make things in “order”. The way to convey the problem will be detrimental to the relationship if the issue delivery is not done appropriately.

The delivery of the issue should be per the person’s personality. Some prefer a confrontation, while others prefer an indirect approach. The wrong method may lead to hatred feelings for the critic. The willingness to rectify the issue eventually becomes the action to escalate the problem.

Other than the wrong approach to escalating problems, selfishness and overfocus on self-interest will result in a detrimental outcome. Ideally speaking, it will lead to distorted criticism, which is not a virtue. The lie of commission and omission will lead to misinterpretation.

The misinterpretation leads to the wrong action taken. It would lead to a toxic environment where productivity and emotional health will be affected. An open conversation between both parties is necessary to prevent misunderstanding to stop the cycle of condemning others.

Selfishness and self-interest that harms the other will eventually lead the life into a living hell. Therefore, controlling the emotion, telling the truth, and showing empathy will alleviate the issue. Through these actions, true virtue will only prevail in life.

What is the best option for human relationships, Cooperating or competing?

Human survival has resulted from countless collaborations and competition. On one side, collaboration is implemented to achieve a mutual goal that requires cooperation between stakeholders. On the other hand, competition is to fight for the limited resources to fulfil the needs and wants,

The capability to cooperate has brought an unprecedented progression to society. An individual only has a limited physical and cognitive ability where it is impossible to achieve something single-handedly. Creating a project that requires manpower-intensive labour often makes one realize the insufficiency of capability. With the connectivity between humans nowadays, cooperation can be easily actualized globally.

To be cooperative, not everyone is necessary to have a shared goal, yet the stakeholders should not have any conflict of interest. For example, a company owner wants to grow the company while his employee wants to get a salary.

Collaboration may arguably be promoted more than the competition. Competition can be done indirectly in a human interaction unless it is officially created and established. Competition, positively speaking, could improve the outcome by being innovative and achieving better resource allocation.

However, competition in an unhealthy way could result in deteriorated outcomes. Unhealthy competition can harm the opposition while it is not necessarily being productive. The main focus shifted from improving the quality to creating some inhibition and counterproductive action.

In a way, the counterproductive action arguably will harm the stakeholder. Yet, human proclivity for self-interest always becomes the priority in the competition. Collaboration and competition are adopted based on personal stances and interests.

One often decides to pick up either option in a scenario. However, the lack of flexibility often makes the decision-maker ignore the optimal outcome by picking one of the options. By cooperating and competing healthily, it could create a value that would be beneficial.

Why do people have a different spectrum for excitement?

Getting excited has made people be more looking forward to their lives. The action that one does, other than responsibility, is often to pursue the excitement in their lives. Some are expressing their excitement, while others are struggling for it.

Excitement can be triggered in different ways. A person may feel high by going for a spiritual tour, while another will feel excited by getting a good grade. The excitement can be generated through the gratification or reward received.

However, people assess excitement in different ways. For instance, some appreciate jazz more than pop. On the other hand, one may disdain people who like to party. The excitement that one experiences sometimes cannot be related to others.

The experiences and personality that are shaped by the environment would decide the way how people reacts. Moreover, the lifestyle that one possesses also determine a person’s capability to delay gratification. The ability to delay gratification can be trained and shaped through circumstances faced.

The trouble arises when one cannot appreciate the way others pursue pleasure. Ultimately, the root cause is the different belief systems that separate one from another. One will always encounter people that have a different value system.

One does not necessarily need to understand others’ tastes for excitement. Instead, one should respect others’ ways to pursue pleasure. One may have a new perspective when encountering new things from others and slowly broaden the way to enjoy life.

The promotion of education in the last few decades has brought the transformation of human productivity, where positive externality amplifies the industrious mindset of people. The flow of information and the ability of a computer to gather data has been unprecedented better than humans. Knowledge retained in a brain can be easily replaced by a minuscule fragment of memory disc and with a higher retention rate. Additionally, the detailed calculation can be calculated by hyper-speed computers and machines.

Ironically, humans will make much more errors than machines nowadays. The bias to make a decision can be solved by decision tools software. While it produces much less error than humans, human intervention could improve the capability.

In many ways, technology has given the ability for humans to do much more things than before. The ability to solve problems that humans can’t solve also made it a double-edged sword that arguably would increase the complacency mentality.

Cognitive ability has become more fluid and profound than before. One lives in an era where only the selective cognitive ability is worth more than the others. The present challenge for the modern world is the work that requires intelligence could be replaced by technology. Novel ideas and skills have become more relevant and keep humans competitive.

While human enjoys technology, human also needs to increase the capability to harness technology to simplify the work. The increase of processing systems will enable humans to change the workforce characteristic to be technologically adaptive.
